Schuler Group acquires Bitrode Corporation

August 23, 2022 – Bitrode Corporation, a leader in the manufacturing of battery testing equipment has been acquired by the Schuler Group a world leader in metalforming. The purchase of the St. Louis company and its Italian parent company Sovema Group gives Schuler the capabilities needed to equip gigafactories for the mass production of lithium-ion batteries, whose large-scale availability is essential for the success of eco-friendly e-mobility on the road.

“We see Schuler’s ownership as a great opportunity for Bitrode to reach its technological potential,” said Cyril Narishkin, CEO and President of Bitrode. “Since 1957, we have served our customers with high-quality, reliable equipment and services.  Now as part of Schuler Group, we will be able to accelerate new product offerings while leveraging Schuler’s wealth of resources and expertise.”

Schuler offers customer-specific cutting-edge technology in all areas of metalforming – from networked presses to press shop planning. In addition to presses, the product portfolio also includes automation, dies, process know-how, and service for the entire metalforming industry. Schuler’s Digital Suite brings together solutions for networking metalforming technology and is constantly being developed to further improve line productivity and availability.

Schuler’s customers include automotive manufacturers and suppliers as well as companies from the forging, household appliance, and electrical industries. Presses from the Schuler Group mint coins for more than 180 countries. Schuler was founded in 1839 at its headquarters in Göppingen (Germany) and has around 5,000 employees at production sites in Europe, China, and the Americas, as well as service companies in more than 40 countries. The company is part of the international technology group ANDRITZ.

“We can now combine Sovema Group’s technological expertise with our know-how in the production of complex lines for the mass manufacturing of parts and components,” said Domenico Iacovelli, CEO of Schuler Group. “This gives us the potential to develop Schuler into a turnkey supplier of technology for the core process steps of cell assembly and cell formation for existing or planned gigafactories dedicated to manufacturing lithium-ion battery cells.”

Schuler already offers production lines for the cost-efficient mass manufacturing of both prismatic and cylindrical battery cell housings. Now Schuler will be the sole owner of the Sovema Group with includes Bitrode. The technology company has systematically expanded its classic product range of highly efficient press lines over the past five years. It is now a leader in the digitalization and networking of forming technology and offers an increasing number of machines in the field of sustainable technologies. In addition to battery case production, this includes lines to produce laminations for electric motors and to manufacture fuel cells and electrolyzers for the hydrogen industry.

For over 60 years Bitrode has supported some of the world’s most innovative people and organizations, enabling them to produce sustainable and renewable energy solutions. For more information see www.Bitrode.com and www.schulergroup.com/E-Mobility.

Bitrode featured in prestigious British tribute to leadership and innovation

Bitrode Corporation’s long history of innovation in the battery industry is being recognized in Great Britain this month. The St. Louis company has been featured in the official History of Parliament Trust 300 Years of Leadership and Innovation commemorative book series being released at Westminster Abbey on September 22, 2021.

“Batteries are a key element in the world’s transition from carbon-based power to a new electrified economy,” said Cyril Narishkin, CEO and President of Bitrode Corporation. “We applaud the British leadership in industry and were honored to be one of the select companies profiled in the commemorative album.”

The United Kingdom is a very important market for Bitrode. The company’s European offices are headquartered in Cheltenham, UK and they have seen first-hand the value of their work in the forefront of battery development and production worldwide.

Celebrating the best of British leadership, 300 Years of Leadership and Innovation features expertly written articles on those who have shaped British society, past and present; from Walpole to Cromwell, Churchill to Blair, The Queen and Prince Charles to captains of industry.

Produced in partnership with leading publisher St James’s House and written by an editorial team of distinguished academics and award-winning authors, the publication is being launched to coincide with the 300th anniversary of the appointment of Britain’s first prime minister, Robert Walpole, in 1721, and in the year of Her Majesty The Queen’s 95th birthday.

“We were delighted to be invited to participate with St. James House in this special tribute,” said Narishkin. “For over 60 years Bitrode has supported the development of innovative technology based on battery power and we applaud Prince Charles’ sustainable market initiative.”

Axe Throwing Event – Brings energy to team

For something completely different, the Care Team hosted an Axe Throwing competition. It was a fun (and surprisingly safe) team building event.

We broke up the day and got to learn new skills and fun facts about each other. Thanks to everyone who participated. Who would have thought throwing an axe at a bullseye on a wooden board could have been so fun.

James Stevens Promoted to Mechanical Engineering Manager

James Stevens, who has worked for more than 17 years in Bitrode’s engineering department, has been promoted to Manager of Mechanical Engineering to oversee the mechanical design used in the creation of high-powered electrical battery testing equipment.

“Having worked together for many years, I have a lot of respect for Jim’s track record of success at Bitrode,” said Elaine Raterman,” Vice President of Engineering. “He has a great work ethic and has a deep understanding of our customers and the product solutions they require.”

As a Mechanical Designer, Jim combined strong technical and project management skills to provide engineered solutions while consistently meeting aggressive time schedules. Beyond that, he has demonstrated strong mentorship skills, passing down the best of Bitrode’s 60-year history to an innovative new generation of engineers.

A native of Scotland, Jim is a family man. He and his wife have 2 children. He enjoys animals and the outdoors and has earned a third degree kyu brown belt from the American Shotokan Karate Alliance.

Rahul Gauba Engineering Manager

Bitrode Corporation is pleased to announce Rahul Gauba has stepped into the role of Engineering Manager for the corporation’s software and firmware development to make the company stronger, more predictable and more responsive to customer needs.

“With the anticipated growth in global energy storage markets, we are very happy to have Rahul here to help develop quality testing equipment to make manufacturers and users of sustainable energy storage more productive,” said Cyril Narishkin, CEO and President of Bitrode Corporation.

Rahul uses over 20 years of design and development experience to lead the engineering team in the development of cost-effective software and firmware.

“With the increasing global popularity of electric vehicles, the battery market is expecting significant, sustainable growth for years to come,” said Narishkin. “Rahul is the ideal person to lead the company’s ongoing migration to newer tools and processes.”
