Formation Charging Equipment

We're burning fuses intermittently on our formation chargers. Any likely causes?

Some things to check for are loose battery connections, AC power stability, and inside the units, check the voltage output on the power supplies. If these all check out clean, some units have a power fail circuit that may not be functioning. Also if your unit does not have a power fail, contact Bitrode for this upgrade and or troubleshooting the circuit.

We're experiencing unstable amperage on only one of our CC charger circuits. What are the possible causes and remedies?

The problem may be connections to your batteries or the control board. Check the battery connections first and, if the problem persists, change the control board. If neither of these solves the problem, contact a Bitrode representative .

Using a 50CR300 Charger on a single 2 volt cell, we occasionally blow fuses. What is happening here?
This type of unit has a charge voltage range of 20-300 volts, and was designed for a string of several batteries. If you are using this for a single cell, you will have difficulty controlling current in the lower voltage range. We suggest you either install other cells in series or call Bitrode to discuss building a unit for this specific need.

On 15CRF300-16 units, the BAN30 fuses keep exploding, even though we are operating the circuits within specification. How do we keep this from happening?
Bitrode specifies 500 volt KLM30 fuses for these chargers, which have a much higher voltage rating than the BAN30 fuses. Please make sure you are using the correct fuse for the specific unit.

We exchanged the FCM units on our 10 and 15 amp CRF chargers, and now they do not work properly.
FCM units have firmware designed for the specifications of the charger type they originally shipped with, and will only work with the appropriate circuit. Do not swap FCM units on chargers with differing voltage or amperage specifications.
